This guide explains how to configure and publish a giveaway. The goal is to increase your products’ visibility by engaging the gaming community in a highly effective way.
Planning Your Giveaway
Before you begin, make sure you have read the tutorial on creating a news post, as the language settings and publication basics are identical. The first major difference concerns scheduling.
1
Click the fields in the Timing section to set the publication date and the duration of your giveaway.
Unlike news posts, giveaways have a maximum duration that depends on your subscription plan:
| Maximum Duration | Subscription Plan | | Up to 1 week | Essential Plan (Free) | | Up to 2 weeks | Plus Plan | | Up to 3 weeks | Pro Plan | | Up to 4 weeks | Max Plan (Distributors only) |
Once approved, upcoming giveaways are immediately displayed in a dedicated section of the platform. This allows players to discover them and get ready to participate even before they officially begin.
2
Next, select the estimated shipping date for the prizes and confirm your selection..
Selecting Categories
3
Open the Categories section to choose the category that applies to your prizes.
Configuring the Prize
4
Enter the exact product name in the designated field without adding any extra text.
5
Select the currency (US dollars or euros), enter the unit value of a prize, and specify the number of prizes available.
The giveaway can only be approved if the total value of all prizes (unit value multiplied by the number of prizes) is at least $80 USD.
6
Enable the Crowdfunding toggle if your giveaway is connected to a crowdfunding campaign.
Activating this option will display a public notice informing participants that prize fulfillment depends on the successful completion of the crowdfunding campaign.
7
Choose whether the prize is physical or digital.
8
If the prizes are physical, open the country selection menu and choose the destinations to which you are willing to ship.
You are solely and entirely responsible for shipping the prizes.
9
Complete the giveaway description using the rich text editor to showcase your product in an engaging way.
Creating the Participation Quiz
Participants must answer a quiz question correctly in order to validate their entry.
10
Open the Required Question section to create the main quiz question.
Write a question that has one—and only one—correct answer. It should not be too easy, but it should not discourage participants either.
11
Enter the correct answer in the designated field.
12
Enter the four incorrect answers in the following fields.
The system will automatically randomize the order of all five answers.
13
Provide a link that participants should ideally visit to find the correct answer, or at least strong clues that will help them discover it. This link may point to a website, a crowdfunding campaign, a game’s rulebook, or any other relevant source.
FAQ
Q: What is the minimum prize value required to create a giveaway?
A: The total value of all prizes (the value of one prize multiplied by the number of prizes offered) must be at least $80 USD. Giveaways below this threshold cannot be approved.
Q: Can I link my giveaway to an active crowdfunding campaign?
A: Yes. You can enable a dedicated option that publicly informs participants that prize fulfillment depends entirely on the success of the crowdfunding campaign.
Q: Who is responsible for shipping physical prizes to the winners?
A: As the organizer, you are solely responsible for fulfillment and shipping. Board Game Station only provides the platform. Therefore, you should carefully select the countries to which you are willing to ship.
Q: How difficult should the participation question be?
A: The question must have one clear and indisputable correct answer. Avoid making it too easy so that participants are encouraged to learn more about your product, but don’t make it so difficult that it discourages participation.
